A Warm Afternoon at Sachenka's, in Valencia.

We spent a warm Saturday afternoon at her house in Valencia, surrounded by exquisite works of art: paintings, sculptures, you name it.
The informal conversation with Sachenka took us to a confort zone that was quickly threatened by the intensity of her work. Hair taken to a different level; glorified.
It was a truly delightful experience, the exchange of ideas and images with the artist: Sachenka Oropeza.
Her work, Geometry of The Flight, is indeed a journey through the inner spaces of her soul..her passion for texture.

Sachenka is also an educator, and you can always imagine what a sublime experience it may be for a youth, to see and taste the world guided by the hand of such a talented young artist.

Her father, writer José Napoleón Oropeza, was with us the whole afternoon, telling us the most fascinating stories about what it is like to be an artist in Latin America, in Venezuela.

It was, after all, an afternoon to celebrate art.

Sachenka Oropeza is here to stay.

  1. I read once that artists live in a different reality than what we normally call the 'real' world. To artists, the world of images or forms, or ideas and feelings, is more "real" than the nuts and bolts world. I would agree, from my own experience. I think that serious artists live with a "cosmic" sense - that is, consciously or not, they are aware that galaxies and universes, both in macrocosm and microcosm, are spinning and traveling in space, while we humans go about our daily business. This gives artists the necessary perspective of the dreamer, to take the 'long' view of reality.
